I’m Truly Maxine, a newly published author from Charlotte writing to inspire others with my story of trauma and healing. My new memoir titled “I Am Who I Think I Am: When Intoxicated” recounts the long journey from childhood to the present, documenting every pressure point along the way. The namesake refers to struggles with alcohol/sobriety and many other coping mechanisms we as people often make use of to shield ourselves from pain throughout our lives.

Testimonials

I greatly enjoyed the book.
The writer took us into her personal world through family crises, life events, lost loves, and everything in between.
It clearly shows how substances can control our thinking, and no matter where we go in life, we still have to meet our highs and lows when we get to our destination.
I highly recommend the book, it's a quick read and keep me riveted.

Her Story

Truly Maxine is an entrepreneur, mentor, writer, and survivor. The proud mother of three beautiful daughters and an amazing grandson, Truly raised her family in both Maryland and North Carolina.

Over the years, Truly has mentored many, mainly focusing on women looking for guidance with personal and professional advice.

Truly’s writing journey began early in life as a way to process trauma. She began journaling and writing notes to herself in junior high school. She co-wrote a book with her classmate that won 2nd place in the “write a book” literary program in Prince Georges County Md public schools when she was in the 7th grade.
